Gheorghe Buta heads the Litigation & Arbitration practice, being one of the most respected experts in Litigations in Romania. In his outstanding career spanning over three decades, he has gathered extensive trial experience as prossecutor, judge and esteemed President of the High Court of Cassation and Justice - Commercial Division, career which enabled him to develop a unique and significant knowledge of handling cases at every level of the Romanian Court system. 

Mr Buta is also renowned for his academic works that combine practical matters regarding the newly reformed judicial framework in Romania, with valuable jurisprudence insights. Over the years, he has authored several volumes of reference, such as “Civil Procedure Code – commented and annotated”, “Business Law”, “The Commercial Jurisdiction – Theory and Jurisprudence”, "Payment Summons Procedure. Doctrine and Case-Law" as well as over 100 articles, studies and contributions to professional publications. His practice focuses on commercial and EU law as well as civil law and procedure. 

Twice member of the Superior Council of Magistracy, he has been nominated by the Government as Romania’s candidate for a judge position at the European Court for Human Rights. Gheorghe Buta holds a PhD in Commercial Law and is fluent in French and English.
